Vista Grande Ranch: Dick & Dianne Van Pelt

Our
Ranch is located south of Laramie, Wyoming, off of Highway 287. We are
pleased to include our horses in a sale of quality, foundation-bred Driftwood,
Hancock and Leo horses.
Dick's roots go back to Western Nebraska where both grandfathers settled and
started cattle ranches. Needing good horses to accomplish the tough
challenges of ranching, both men, as well as Dick's mother and father, Richard
and Margaret Jean, instilled in Dick an appreciation and love of good horse
flesh. "My father was accused of marrying my mother to acquire the good
ranch horse known as 'Teddy' that my grandfather owned. My father has
always had a deep love for my mother (they are both in their 80s now and are
still active on the ranch), but one still has to wonder how far a man will go to
acquire a good horse....
Dick's paternal grandfather calved on the North Platte River where
Scottsbluff now stands. He always regretted losing this outstanding
calving ground to that "darn town"!
Dick feels fortunate to have grown up in a ranching family, squarely
dependent on the ranching industry and good horses for their living lifestyle.
After spending 31 years in the banking business loaning cowboys money, Dick now
devotes all of his time to ranching.
An "addicted" team roper, Dick knows and feels good rope horses. He's a
devoted fan of Monty Roberts and Ray Hunt, so you can be assured our halter
broke horses have all been "whispered" to.
The Come To The Source sale improves each year and we think that you will be
please with the ever increasing color our ranch is producing. Visiting
Wyoming in late August will be well worth the trip. We invite you to give
us a call and stop by the ranch for a tour and introduction to our bloodlines.
We'll look forward to seeing you.
