Welcome to the Vista Grande Ranch Site!
Van Pelt’s Vista Grande Ranch is located south of Laramie, Wyoming up against the base of the Laramie Range of Mountains at about 7400 feet above sea level. The high plains of Wyoming, its good hard grass, cold mountain water and acres and acres of bright blue unpolluted sky is home to the Van Pelt string of top quality ranch bred working cow horses going back to Blue Valentine, Joe Hancock and Leo. It doesn’t matter whether you rope, cut, barrel race or just need a good tough ranch horse; we have something that will fit you. Each year we greet about 35 new foals for your review and we usually have about 20 yearlings plus older colts that we elected not to sell in earlier sales. If you value quality and lots of roan color as well as a touch of speed, you’ve come to the right place. If you’re in our area and would like to see our horses, we would be pleased to have you stop by for a tour and we can usually always find a good cup of homemade coffee. Most of our horses sell through the Come To The Source sale which is always held in the last Saturday in August before Memorial Day each year. We encourage you to come to Laramie for a great time on that weekend. We have held it in conjunction with the Hyde Merritt Memorial Roping which is the only paramutual steer roping held in the country. It combines well with our horse sale and we guarantee you a good time.
